San Diego, California Marine Corps Base

u. s marines careersMCRD San Diego much better known as the Marine Corps Recruit Depot is the West Coast boot camp regarding enlisted Marines. This base has its own buildings that are considered historical attractions. It is situated right next to the particular San Diego airport and the five freeway.

This base is very romantic and easy to get to know. Many from the buildings are original when the bottom was constructed so there is a few TLC needed, but all in all, it is a beautiful base. If you are looking to reside here, it probably won’t occur as the housing is limited here. However, many other bases around MCRD San Diego will accommodate families positioned here. If you love great climate, great food and activities, you will adore being stationed here!

The climate here is almost always beautiful. The winters do get down in the 40’s however the afternoons tend to be sunny and hot. If you live on the coast, you will definately get the marine layer in the days which usually burns off by middle day. We do experience “June gloom” in which the skies are overcast and it is often colder most of the days. The summers average 70-75 degrees and scoops down to the mid 60’s. It’s a perfect place to live. We aren’t close to a fault line, yet do get small mini-quakes. Best to become on the safe side and have an idea with food and water stored in case.

What is there to do around San Diego Marine Corps Base,

Lego Land: Great theme park regarding children under 8. Tickets are extremely expensive, more so than the other theme parks in the San Diego area. Get discounts on admission at the ITT ticket office. There are also annual passes available that are affordable.

Disneyland: Located in Anaheim (about two hours). The tickets at ITT only save you a couple bucks, yet keep checking because they do offer armed forces specials occasionally. Sometimes you can get much better deals on Disneyland specials.

Padres Games: The San Diego Padres as a great way to spend an evening from Petco Park. The trolleys plus trains run to the park daily on game nights. Get reduced tickets at ITT.

San Diego Chargers: The San Diego Chargers games are a lot of fun� ******)
USS Midway: The aircraft service provider has been fully restored and is the best way to spend the afternoon.

Seaport Village: A great place to visit and check out most of the unique stores and walk across the ocean.

Wild Animal Park plus San Diego Zoo: If you might be going on an one-time trip, get low cost tickets at ITT.
